Avon Theatre Stratford

99 Downie Street, Stratford, ON

The Avon is downtown, on Downie Street. It is the Festival's traditional proscenium: a set you look at, not a platform you sit around. Family shows and big musicals often land here. The Studio is about three minutes away, at the back of the same neighbourhood.

Accessibility

Special-access seating is on the orchestra level. Confirm it when you book. Downtown sidewalks are mostly flat on the way in.

Seating, without the chart

  • Sit centre, orchestra or balcony, if you want the set square on. A far-side seat can lose the edge of a deep design.
  • On a budget, a centre balcony seat usually beats a seat jammed against the side wall.
  • This is not a steep rake. If stairs are the worry, the Studio is the house to avoid, not the Avon.
  • We do not publish a seating chart. Use the Festival's chart before you pay.

Best seat for your budget

The Avon is a proscenium: a picture-frame stage. Centre is the straight-on view. Far sides are a sharper angle.

Festival discount zones: Play On covers Bravo, B, A and A+. Rush is not sold in the Globe Ring, Founders' Row, Spotlight or Bravo zones. The prices and the 2027 terms are on Ways to save. Those zones are Festival tickets, not a price list for every room in town.

Parking and intermission

Nearest parking is downtown: on-street $1.50 an hour, municipal lots $1.25 an hour, by meter, pay-by-plate or the HotSpot app.

The Cooper and Downie lots are free for 24 hours.

Pre-order interval drinks in the Festival's StratFest OnSite app.

Pre-ordered picnics are collected at the Festival Theatre or the Tom Patterson Theatre, not at this downtown house.

Café hours: from 2 hours before the show until the end of intermission. At the Tom Patterson, hot food goes until 2:30 on matinee days.
